How it works
The Truv integration within BYTE Software allows you to leverage automated employment and income verification directly in your existing workflow. Here’s how it works:
- Application Submission: Operations team can initiate and submit the loan application through the Vesta UI.
- Request Verification: Navigate to the Income section. Click Actions → Order Income Verification, then select Truv from the list of providers. The request is automatically routed for processing.
- Borrower Notification: Borrowers are notified via email and text, specified in the loan application, to complete the requested verifications. The borrower experience is completely customized through the Truv Dashboard -> Templates. Borrower is required to authenticate into the employers requested to complete the verification.
- Automated Data Retrieval: Once borrower completes the requested verification. Truv retrieves the income and employment data from connected payroll systems and the data retrieved is automatically populated in Vesta, allowing for a seamless continuation of the loan process.
Enabling the Integration
Vesta’s modular, API-first architecture allows for quick onboarding with Truv. Setup steps typically include:
- API Credentials: Obtain your Truv sandbox and production API keys from the Truv dashboard.
- Partner Configuration: Within Vesta’s admin settings, enable Truv as a verification provider.
- User Permissions: Ensure your team has the correct permissions to place verification orders and view results.
- Template Alignment: Coordinate with Truv to align templates (branding, document preferences, fallback rules) to your workflows.
Work with your Truv CSM and Vesta technical contact to complete setup and test end-to-end flows before launch.
Ordering a Verification
The Truv integration within Vesta enables a seamless, real-time income and employment verification experience—right from within your LOS. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of the process:
Once the integration is enabled, follow these steps to order a verification:

Open Loan Application:
- Navigate to the Pipeline view in Vesta.
- Select the loan application where you want to order VOIE.
- Ensure borrower details such as email and phone number are on the loan file.

Initiate Income verification:
- In the loan file, go to the Incomes section from the left navigation menu.
- In the Income tab, click on the Actions button at the top right.
- Select Order income verification from the dropdown.

Select Employers to verify:
- In the Order income verification window.
- Choose Truv as the provider and select Credentials as the service option.
- Check the boxes for all employment records you want to verify (for one or multiple borrowers).

Submit Order: Once selections are complete, click Place order.

Notify the borrower:
- Borrowers automatically receive both email and SMS notifications based on the contact details in the loan file.
- They are prompted to connect their payroll account securely through Truv Bridge, enabling real-time data retrieval.
Retrieving Reports and Documents
To retrieve reports and documents after ordering a verification:
- Access Completed Verifications: Once Truv has completed the verification, you’ll receive a notification within BYTE Software.
- View Verification Details: Go to the Verifications section of the loan application and click on the completed Truv verification.
- Download Reports: You can view and download the verification report, which includes detailed information on the applicant's income and employment.
- Attach to Application: Attach the report directly to the loan application for easy access during underwriting.
Overview of Truv within Vesta
Borrowers engage with Truv when a verification request is triggered from within Vesta:
- Borrowers receive a secure link to connect to their payroll account or financial institution.
- If login credentials are available, they authenticate via credentials or one-time passcode.
- Truv verifies the data, detects potential fraud, and delivers a structured report with attachments back to Vesta for lender review.
This experience supports both direct API and link-based flows and is optimized to reduce borrower drop-off and improve data collection speed.
Launch with Truv in Vesta
- Contact Customer Success: Reach out to your Truv or Vesta Customer Success team to begin onboarding.
- Enable Truv: Add Truv as a verification provider within your Vesta LOS instance.
- Customize Templates: Work with Truv to set up templates aligned with your branding, GSE requirements, and fallback handling.
- Test in Sandbox Mode: Run end-to-end tests using Vesta’s sandbox loan creation and Truv’s simulated data.
- Go Live: Transition to production once verification flows are fully validated.
